It seems some that some of the phone interviews start today. It will be enlightening to see what comes out of them.
I am having a hard time believing they have had a sudden epiphany and are going to try to correct course.
Some of the posts about it give some clue. I am especially curious about the questions about the forums.
Hopefully, some of the participants will be willing to share their experience with us.
Hi Doug -
ReplyDeleteCount me among the permamuted. Nearly 2000 positive comments in the forums and they look at THREE they didn't like? It's just like when I worked for the government!
At first I was angry - well, I am still mega-pissed-off; that will never change - and then I was a bit sad because I saw so many questions on the forums that I could easily have answered.
Then I read your post - the one to Chad - and I finally realized I have been given a gift... the gift of perspective and discernment. I do not have to stay on Etsy. If they are so thin-skinned that they cannot tolerate ANY criticism, then I need to move on. If they are not interested in experienced sellers helping new sellers - despite their lip service to the contrary - then I will make my own way.
Etsy's continued twerking of relevancy has resulted in FAR fewer views for me = far fewer sales. So I am opening my own shop via Supadupa. I will do my own marketing, my own business plan. I have no idea what this will be like - but I am tired of being afraid to tread on the fragile egos at Etsy. I am tired of the thinly-veiled switch to factory-made goods disguised as "collectives." It's time to be a grown-up and make my own way.
Hope things go well for you.
